MISSION & HISTORY.

The Delaware Valley Purchasing Group is a member operated non-profit food service organization serving over 2,300 independently owned, food service establishments in New Jersey, Pennsylvania Delaware, New York, Virginia, Connecticut and Maryland.
DVPG was established in 1984 to improve independent restaurateurs’ buying power and to provide them with the ability to compete with the purchasing power of chain and franchise operations.
Whether you are a fine dining “white table cloth” establishment, family restaurant, café bistro, diner, pizzeria or sandwich shop, the Delaware Valley Purchasing Group can strengthen the profit side of your business.

Bill Balis has had a long and rewarding career in the hospitality industry, spanning 48 years and marked by both challenges and enjoyment. Based in New Jersey, he owns three prominent locations: Kaminski's in Cherry Hill, which has been under his ownership for 22 years; Phily Diner Sports Bar, which he has owned for 33 years; and ADELPHIA Restaurant and Event Center, a cornerstone of his career with 38 years of ownership.
Bill has also been actively involved with the DVPG, a group designed to support businesses in various ways, including providing significant savings. He initially joined the DVPG when it was first organized. During his tenure on the board, he saw the group grow from 200 to 400 members. After taking a break, he rejoined when the board membership had grown to 1,200, and today the DVPG boasts over 2,000 members. Bill highly recommends joining the DVPG, as it offers substantial savings and support for businesses of all sizes, from those with low volumes to high-volume establishments.

Paul Tsiknakis has been in the restaurant industry since the age of 12, working alongside his father and growing a lifelong passion for hospitality. He is the owner of several well-known establishments, including Monarch Diner, Marblehead Chowder Houses in NJ and PA, Limerick Diner/Flying Pig, and Geets Diner.
A DVPG member since 2009 and board member for the past five years, Paul joined to help independent restaurants stay competitive against large chains. He believes DVPG not only saves members money but also strengthens the industry, giving smaller operators a powerful voice and keeping vendors accountable across the market.
